User pain points:

  • Users can’t trust the range displayed by the vehicle during long trips.

  • Long-distance travel feels stressful because users must manually calculate stops, buffer distance, and charging time.

  • Users face uncertainty at charging stations due to unreliable availability, faulty chargers, and fragmented payment systems.

EV drivers lack confidence in long-distance travel due to unreliable range estimates, unpredictable charging infrastructure, and fragmented planning tools.

Structure Behind the UI

To break down how the experience works end to end, we created the TrueRoutes service blueprint

Typography and Colour Palette

TrueRoute reflects the route that holds true in real driving conditions, not just distance on a map. It accounts for real factors giving drivers a route they can

trust, not an ideal one, hence the name, TrueRoute

This marks the current phase of TrueRoute. As the work continues, I’m constantly uncovering new insights through conversations and translating them into design decisions that improve clarity and confidence.

This process reinforced how valuable open discussions are in revealing real pain points that often don’t surface through data alone, pushing me to design from lived experiences. Moving forward, usability testing will be the next step to validate these decisions and further refine the experience.
